This Airfix Austin K2/Y Ambulance Model Kit allows you to capture this historic vehicle in authentic detail.

One of the most famous vehicles of its type, the Austin K2/Y Ambulance was used extensively by British and Commonwealth forces throughout WWII, both in the combat zones of the world and on the home front. Built around the chassis of the Austin K30 light truck, the casualty compartment was developed in conjunction with the Royal Army Medical Corps and therefore proved to be highly functional.

Able to carry either four stretcher cases or ten seated casualties, one of the main reasons why the K2/Y was so successful was because it was so rugged and reliable, requiring only a minimum of maintenance.

The model kit is ideal for expanding your Second World War collection. It’s ideal for ideal for more experienced model collectors, with 146 parts included. It captures the ambulance in 1:35 scale.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jonathan LH from A Very Enjoyable Build One of the newer Airfix tools, and a very nice kit. The forward bulkhead is a tight fit, but will go without filing (although I did give it a quick pass just to make the final assembly easier). Toughest part was the big red cross roof decal; that took some care to place properly. Also, Airfix has slyly included decals allowing you to recreate perhaps the most famous K2/Y -- "Katy" from "Ice Cold in Alex."

Rated 4 out of 5 by Fluff73 from Nice kit, but normal issues. This is a nice enough kit but sadly has the normal issues you'd expect. Some of the fitting isn't great and I had to file away a large part of the bottom of the bulkhead to actually make it fit. Over all its OK.
