I have a vintage sewing machine which does embroidery the non technology way. I wasnt sure if they still sold these as nowadays its all automatic digital machines. I noticed they have a plastic type one which i haven't seen before but it wasn't the size i needed, I will buy next time and try it out. So far I'm happy with my products from hobbycraft.

Holds material taut for free motion sewing
Excellent quality embroidery hoop that I am using for free motion machine embroidery to hold the material securely when moving the fabric around under the needle, although this size is only suitable for really small designs on my particular model of sewing machine as I can't sew right up to the edge of the hoop.

Good - does it's job well
Found these hoops good to work with, but slight shedding of the wood at times. However, this was easily removed. One hoop was slightly beveled at one point so didn't keep the material as taught, but didn't have much of a negative effective on my embroidery. Overall, good purchase for the price paid.

Good quality hoop
These hoops are a good quality and do the job well. Only thing I don't like is Hobbycraft put their sticker on the hoop edge and it can be hard to get off, and there's blue plastic protector for on the metal clasp which is really tricky to remove. Otherwise a great product.

Excellent quality. A must have!
I brought this bigger hoop as I needed a larger for a new design. Previously i had been using a plastic hoop. But after using this wooden hoop, i wont go back!
This hoop keeps the aida very tight and secure. Excellent quality and very reasonably priced!

Nice wood sewing hoop
Quite a nice hoop, but thin so might easily break when putting over cross stitch picture. Also when I got this home noticed it had a weak spot at the top of it - should’ve taken it back but have quite a few hoops anyway so am using it and hope it stays ok.

Ideal for Cross Stitch
I looked everywhere for a 5" embroidery hoop, for one store to tell me they didn't exist (not Hobbycraft)!
Purchased a few of this size, as they are handy for making hanging decorations.
Well made, and they feel lovely.
