Others I have bought in the past had an inner circle that was smaller than the outer, but had a ridge on the back, so you could position your fabric easily, without the outer ring slipping past the inner. This one has a ridge in the middle, making it more difficult to position fabric, and not great if the dexterity in your hands isn't what it should be. However, once on, it does hold the fabric at a good tension.

Rated 3 out of 5 by whatzup from Might be ok in a larger size I had only a small piece of Aida which came with a cross-stitch card kit, and was looking for a very small hoop with which to work. This product had good reviews so I took a chance. Unfortunately my sample was too small and I could not get the tension on the fabric, so this did not work out well for me. I guess this style of frame could be very good for a larger fabric sample, but with a larger frame too. I would not recommend it at this small size: the frame is quite deep and with only a small diameter there is not a lot of room behind to "cast off" if your needle or work is too close to the edge (which, being a small frame, is very likely). So, whilst my review is not on the bright side, this is due to my small sample to work with, and the small size of the hoop I was obliged to choose. This hoop in a larger size, on a more generous piece of fabric might work out much better.

Will be getting a larger one soon (didn't have them in stock at the time of shopping) I use this on almost all my embroidery and cross stitch WIPs at the moment and just keep moving it around the fabric, it's so lovely to use.
