OK at the right (low) price
Fair colour range with the usual excess of greens like all these sets. Using decent quality light texture 300g Coldpress paper they work well if used lightly, but I find the nib is prone to break under load when sharpened to a point (I use mechanical sharpener). When used with water and brush the pigment doesn't flow far but this is ok for light application. Any heavier with the pencil you start to burnish the paper but the pigment will go further.

Ideal starter pack to get into the swing of things
Looking to rekindle an old love with watercolour pencils I saw this tin and figured it would be a good place to start.
I wasn't disappointed. Except with the purple which is a bit too hard and scratchy as a crayon.
The Derwent Academy is a harder pencil than some but easy to use and blends beautifully wet on wet. I have had less success blending dry to wet but I think that is down to my lack of skill rather than the fault of the pencil.
I have really enjoyed learning new skills and wouldn't hesitate to buy these as a gift.

Super crayons
I bought these for my son who is keen on drawing but many of the multi packs of coloured pencils just don't give enough 'colour'. These are lovely, intense colours and the watercolour aspect gives them another dimension.

Excellent Product and value
Very good value for money and great depth of pigment and not to chalky so less needed for colouring therefore economical to use and give a professional look to your work

Good colour and coverage
These pencils are up to the usual Derwent quality, they are good colours and cover well, allowing blending and flow when water is added.

Beautiful colours.
Had real fun with these, worked well. Also weren't bad normally for my adult colouring book.
