Humbrol Enamel Matt Paint is perfect for modellers looking for a high quality, tough finish on every project.

With a huge range of colours available, it can be used for a wide range of art and crafts, on many surfaces and as a touch up or surface paint around the home and for DIY applications. It’s suitable for indoor or outdoor usage.

The solvent-based, fast-drying paint was developed for use on plastic model kits but can also be used on other substrates, including wood, glass, ceramics, metal, cardboard, sealed plaster, sealed hardboard and more.

Each 14ml tin covers approx. 0.3m² depending on thickness of application. It can be brushed on straight from the tin, or you can apply using an airbrush with a suitable thinner. Two thin coats are preferable to one thick coat.

In the old days (of the Centauri republic), we had Airfix, Hasegawa, Tamiya, Revell, Monogram…and then to paint them we had Airfix own-brand enamels, Humbrol, with a massive range sub-divided into eras and subjects (Napoleonic, ancients, Vietnam era USAF camouflage…) Humbrol is still very much active but its ranges, enamel and acrylic are often overlooked. There is more correspondence over which brand of acrylics is superior, some consideration to oils, thanks to masters such as Marco Frissoni, but enamels are rarely mentioned. They are superior to nothing. When painting miniatures the only ‘wrong’ colours are white metal and raw plastic. Humbrol’s range is quite extensive in both media but I prefer them for the bread and butter stuff. Matt Leather being one such. It does what it says on the tin, and it is a tin. It and its kin, Matt flesh, natural wood, gloss black, are all that are necessary to paint the majority surface of most miniatures. I will often prime, then go over with this and its kin to get a model started. If I have time I will go over that with an acrylic which might have more subtle properties.
