A quick and fun project, you can stitch this gorgeous, cosy stocking with WI Soft and Chunky over a weekend.

Row 40. Join yarn at the base of the heel (where the heel meets R26) & work around the top of the heel. (bbl, dc) 12 times  ch1, turn. (12bbl, 12dc)

Row 41. Dc in each st, ch1, turn.

Continue to work in Rounds.

Rnd 42. (Bbl, dc) 21 times, all the way around the stocking, 

Rnd 43. (dc, dc2tog) 8 times, (dc2tog) twice, 10dc, (dc2tog) twice (30DC)

Rnd 44. (Bbl, dc) 15 times (15bbl, 15dc)

Rnd 45. Dc in each st. (30dc)

Rnds 46-55. Repeat Rnd 44 & Rnd 45

Top of stocking- (worked in DC)

Rnds 56-63. Dc in each st, ch1, turn (30dc)
Rnd 64. Crab Stitch around the top of the stocking to finish off, fasten off & sew in the ends.

 

 

Hanging loop –(worked in DC)

Ch31
Rows 1- 3. Dc in each st, ch1, turn (30dc)
Row 4. Dc in each st (30dc)

Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew to the stocking.

Tassels (make 2)

Wrap yarn around a small book or a piece of card 25 times (approximately 20cm long)


Tie all pieces of yarn together at the other end leaving enough yarn to tie to the stocking & cut the other ends of the yarn to form a tassel. Tie another piece of yarn about a quarter of the way down like in the image.
