James C Brett Evening Sky Shhh DK Yarn 100g

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Dk yarn, although still good I bought this yarn to make a 6 day star blanket. It is put down as a DK yarn but when working with it the thickness changes. Although the colours are beautiful and the actual quality of the yarn is really good and easy to work with. The other downside is the yarn is almost impossible to frog, the tiniest of strands get caught on previous rows or the current one. This is my first big project so it may be due to lack of experience but I did find it quite daunting if i found a mistake earlier on in my row (especially when i was doing at least 50 double crochets between each peak!) so always ended up working with the mistake

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful colours, hard to frog Bought this to crochet a shawl for my mum after using a different colour version of it for a scarf for myself. It’s thinner than other dk but that worked nicely for a more open effect. Think you could size down a hook for a tighter look. The varied colours look lovely together as the rows progress. It’s easy to work with but a nightmare to frog it if you do something wrong, the little strands really cling together and make it hard to separate. I would still use it again though as it’s so pretty

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing Yarn This yarn looks lovely, but unfortunately that’s about all. Due to its fluffy quality I find it difficult to knit (or crochet) with, and I’m an experienced knitter. If you need to undo any of your work, the yarn fibres are caught up in each other and you need to rip them apart. I also find the nature of the yarn irritating to my skin and nose, and the fibres are making me sneeze. I wouldn’t buy any more of it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely colours Lovely colours and it’s quite wispy too but I didn’t look at the label which has 20% wool 80% acrylic and the wool makes me sneeze! I never realised I was allergic. Note to self - check labels in future. So I am still crocheting (wearing a covid mask) a lovely shawl but this will be a gift to my no -allergic friend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful yarn Absolutely beautiful yarn with fantastic colour changes. Haven't found any knots yet. Only two slight downsides are that this is slightly thinner than usual DK weight and it is incredibly difficult to frog if needed. Still a beautiful yarn and would 100% recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shhhhh Runs smoothly from the ball and so far only 1 knot from 4 balls!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lots of knots in first skein Bought this several months ago and finally bought this out to start a brioche two colour project that I saw the pattern for and fell in love with. On first working with it and handling it I was impressed with its softness and the lovely colours. As I was knitting with it I started coming a ross knots where the yarn had been joined. This was frustrating as it was not just one. I am a quarter of the way through one skein and I have had three knots/joins so far. It is considerably thinner than the other skein of DK yarn I am using as the contrast colour which may change the overall guage that comes up in the end but as it is a blanket this is not too important. As others have mentioned it is not the easiest of yarns too frog back on so fair warning to those not using two colours of different yarns. I have not had any issues with splitting but then I am using 4mm needles so that may be helping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous colour Loved the colours of this yarn. This was the thinnest yarn I've worked with to date and used 3.25mm needles, straight and in the round, it wasn't as scary as I thought. Luckily my tensions been good and the stitches are even. Made a slotted scarf and a pair of wrist warmers as a Christmas present and still have yarn left out of the ball. Very happy with how it knitted up and it looks lovely
