Modelcraft Multi Angled Bench Vice 55mm

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightweight but very sturdy. I like this vice because it is nice and compact, even when clamped to the modeling table it can be folded down out of the way. Which means that I do not have to keep taking it off the work surface. By incorporating a ball joint in its design, it means that it is very easy to control the angel of the jaws and the piece of model that I am working on. As well as the soft jaws not damaging my work, they also give me the opportunity of holding my mini drill securely without causing any damage, leaving both hands free to control the work. All in all one of my better buys. And it didn't break the bank!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fine for DIY projects I needed a small vice to hold steady parts when soldering wires in audio plugs etc, but also for general work such as sawing and filing. Online, many product reviews for other products were critical of build quality and operation so, although a bit more expensive, I opted for this from Hobbycraft. It was delivered promptly and in good condition. The vice is strong, the adjustable parts lock securely and it is very steady. The jaws are slightly misaligned laterally, but close together tightly throughout their length. Useful grooves, horizontally and laterally allow bars, wires etc to be held securely. Rubber covers prevent damage to more delicate items, or to hold irregular shapes. Not precision engineering, but altogether, a good purchase and perfect for DIY use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent purchase A very useful piece of kit for holding objects - in my case stained glass pieces, while soldering them. So often in craft work one feels one has "run out of hands". This bench vice takes the place of one hand, leaving both human hands free to continue working. The fact that I got an extra £5 off as an offer on my loyalty card didn't hurt, either. A very worthwhile purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features This is an absolute must for all you model making and close work a must for fiddly tasks. A great fully movable vice would strongly recommend for all types of hobby work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and robustly made item. REcommended A good light to medium duty bench vice. The construction is of robust steel and the jaws align well enough with their rubber bumpers. Highly recommended for hobby use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seems reasonably well made For those used to engineering vices, the movable jaw is very slack on its guides, but nips up OK, presumably not a parallel action Well made and well finished.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Model bench vice has been very useful and handy but on softer wood the "grip" marks on the movable vice tend to leave unwanted marks on the softer material that is being worked.
