Not used as intended, perfect nontheless
While I can't vouch for the effectiveness of these dowels in cake, they were perfect in the scale model of Tower Bridge we made for school, as the corners of the bridge's towers. Not only did they enhance the shape, they also provided the model with rigidity and stability of construction.

Great Strong Dowels
Great Strong dowels just what i needed to support a 2 tiered birthday cake. Easily cut down with bread knife They are quite wide as well. They stay firmly in place. I used 2 of the 4 rods for one 8 inch cake.

Great product
These were so easy to use, and to cut down to size, and held my 3 tier cake in place for 12 hours with no problem.
I wouldn’t use any other dowelling rods in future, as these were faultless.
