I was a little worried when I read the negative reviews for the other kits in the series as this was bought for an eight year old. We bought the tile nippers in Hobbycraft but also had a smaller pair from a tool kit. Cutting the tiles was a little tricky but we soon got the hang of it. We found cutting inside the little plastic wrapper from the kit stopped the pieces flying across the room. Our smaller tile nippers gave a better result than the Hobbycraft ones but both were usable. Overall a really lovely afternoon project.

Turtle mosaic coaster kit.
My 6 year old was delighted with this. He did it one afternoon and has admitted the coaster since. Was his weekend craft highlight! Would have been good if the half or split mosaics were included as it was a challenge to cut them without suitable tools.

How do you cut the tiles?!
I didn’t think about it when I bought this but the picture shows many half or cut tiles, yet all the tiles provided are full and made of hard plastic. I do wonder how a person is meant to cut them? I ended up throwing away.

Very cute. Fun to create.
I bought this as I love turtles. It was fun to do although cutting the tiles was very tricky and I got injured! A nice blood blister off the pliers I used to cut.
