Cricut: How to Make a Paper Begonia Maculata Plant
A beautiful fun plant for the home made from paper. No watering necessary and you still get a gorgeous plant. This requires a Cricut machine (any machine will be able to create however I have used the Cricut Maker) and uses the free shapes in Cricut Design Space to create the leaf shape. No designs need to be purchased from Design Space to make this project!

How to make
Select a heart and circle shape from the shapes section on the left-hand bar within Cricut Design Space. Select the circle and click the lock symbol to unlock. Reshape the circle to an oval.
Duplicate the oval shape and begin to create the right side of the leaf. We want the shape to be bumpy so keep adding ovals/circles down the side.
Ensure the outer shape curves like a leaf travelling outwards in the middle and coming in for the bottom of the leaf. Select a heart shape and position at the bottom resizing so the outer line smoothly joins the outer line of the previous shape. Create a large oval and position this on the left side again ensuring the outer line smoothly joints with the heart. Continue to create the left side by placing a small oval over the previous. Select all and weld together.
Select the score line from the shapes area in Design Space. Create score lines where the centre is close to the top of the leaf like the images shown. Place multiple score lines in a circular motion. Select all and attach.
Finally use the circle shape to create spots for your leaves. Reshape some to ovals and leave an oval at the side of your leaf that is small enough to fit inside the leaf. This needs to be the same colour as your leaf and will be used for hiding the wire. Duplicate your leaf for as many as is needed and in a variety of sizes.
Now it is time to make it! Select 'make it' on your Cricut software and follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure to insert your scoring tool before starting.
Cut your shapes out!
Adhere the white spots to each leaf. I used Cricut tweezers, clear dry glue and a paint brush.
Glue the florist wire using hot glue. Ensure the wire sits where the score lines meet and glue 1-2 inches from that point. Use the green oval to cover to hide the wire. Bend the leaf where the glue stops.
Place the foam into the plant pot. Take your decorative stones and place them into the pot covering the entire foam.
Insert the leaf into the floral foam and gently bend over. Ensure the leaf faces the front and is bent forwards only at the top of the leaf where the glue ends. Continue this with all the leaves travelling the leaves downwards by snipping the wire at different lengths.
