Colour-In Cardboard Train 102cm

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Designed by Hades I believed I was in purgatory trying to put this together. It rips with ease, just like my shirt as I was quickly turning in to the Hulk. IKEA cabinet? No worries. Argos Wardrobe? I’ll have a go. This cardboard mayhem was taking me straight express to Hades.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So Darn Difficult! We've had a couple of items from this set and they are all very difficult to assemble - kids stood no chance and any adult trying to pick-up the pieces will be battling against slightly-torn cardboard. Armed with lots of tape we just about managed to get the thing to look just about how it should on the box, but the joins aren't very robust and as soon as kids start climbing in the gimmick the thing takes itself apart somewhat! Real shame as it's such a nice concept - that being said the majority of kids (i.e. accepting, non-perfectionist kids) still enjoy the deal, just it's not something they can really assemble for themselves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All Aboard for Hours of Entertainment It took 3 adults, 3 children and a giant white rabbit (a pet, not a hallucination) plus not entirely helpful advice from onlookers, to build this train. Not that is was especially difficult to build, more a case of too many train engineers! On it’s maiden journey there was a major derailment when the breaks failed (no casualties thankfully) and the train held up surprisingly well although some tape was required for repairs. Then it was on to colouring and decorating the train. An ejector seat button was added in case of future crashes and the giant white rabbit had a go at driving! All in all one of the best value presents ever! Kept the kids (ages 4 - 10) and the adults (ages not disclosed) and a giant rabbit (6 months) entertained all evening! The train was actually a present for my niece for her 4th birthday and reports are she immediately got back to decorating it inside and out the next morning! Probably the best value present I’ve ever given, kept us all entertained! Can be a bit fiddly slotting some of the parts together and we did rip a few, but if you do it slowly and gently (and without too many helper kids and rabbits) it’s fine. My niece loves trains, she loves rocket ships even more, but the rocket version available was rather rubbish. If you make a proper looking rocket one I’d get that for her too! I’m available for rocket design ideas and testing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a good gift idea (especially during lockdown!) I was struggling to find a present for a friend's toddler when I wandered into Hobbycraft and found these amazing huge cardboard, colour-in sets. They're the perfect gift! Big enough to be a pretty impressive present (bumping me to the top of the 'Best Gift Giver' pile), guilt-free (coz cardboard), interactive (anything a toddler can destroy that isn't your walls, furniture, clothing, pets is a winner in my books) and super affordable (huge gift + small price tag = WIN.) I will be gifting these at any given opportunity.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice idea, but overly expensive I had my eye on this for a while for my young twins and decided to go for it when I got a £5 hobbycraft voucher. I love the idea of this product, but it may be more suited to slightly older children as it is very flimsy considering the cost. Also the outer part of the train you're meant to colour in is a slightly shiny material, which makes it very difficult to colour with colouring pencils for young children. My twins do like climbing in and out of the train, but it had to be reinforced a lot to be used! I'd say a good buy for older children, but quite expensive for what it is for youngsters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I realised. I purchased this for my train obsessed 2 year old, it was easy to build with simple instructions on the box. The cardboard is stronger than I thought it would be making it more durable for little ones. I would recommend as something to keep little minds busy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Construction Tabs Tear Easily My grandson is only 3 but immediately noticed that the front of the train should be on the other end. The tabs do not hold in position very securely and many of them just tore so I had to resort to construction with a glue gun. Colouring and play value good, but this certainly could not be taken apart and reused multiple times (it states on box - folds flat for storage). For £10 it was reasonable value but I certainly would not pay full price for it.
