Cricut: How to Make an Outdoor Adventure Kit

Level
Beginner
Time
1/2 day
Budget
30+

Whether you consider yourself outdoorsy or not, it’s fair to say that most of us have been spending more time than usual enjoying the great outdoors! Come rain or shine, the kids (and grownups too!) will be kept entertained by this set of outdoor adventure cubes. Each cube has a theme: seaside, woodland, leaves, farm, transport and minibeasts.

You could create your set based around your local area and the places you enjoy visiting the most. Simply roll the dice and go exploring! Because these cubes are quite small, they would be better for children over the age of three and should be enjoyed under adult supervision.

How to make

Step 1
Measure your base and insert a square onto your canvas which is the same size. You will need 6 squares for each cube. Change their colours to reflect which colour vinyl you would like to use; this tells your Cricut to cut them on different mats.

Step 2

Insert your chosen images from the Cricut library. As you are working on a small scale, it is better to choose images which are simple and do not involve lots of intricate cuts. Ensure your images are set to the colour you would like and that they fit within the squares/ faces of your cubes.

Step 3

Top tip: If you have found an image you like, but do not want all of its details to cut, select the image and hit contour to choose which pieces you would like to cut.

Step%203.jpeg?sw=680&q=85
Step 4
You are ready to cut your design! Follow the instructions on screen and on your machine to cut each piece.
Step%204.jpeg?sw=680&q=85
Step 5
Use your Cricut tools to weed your design so that you are left with the pieces you would like to transfer.
Step%205.jpeg?sw=680&q=85
Step 6
Using transfer tape, transfer the squares to your cube. You may need to use a craft knife to gently remove any excess vinyl which peeks over the edges to ensure a smooth finish.
Step%206.jpeg?sw=680&q=85
Step 7
With each side of your cube covered, use transfer tape to transfer an image onto each side of your cube.

Enjoy!
Enjoy playing your game outside! You could roll the dice to find what to look for, or see how many of each thing you can find!
