Translating American into English
There is an issue about American English where some words do not mean the same as in the UK. This is a problem for a number of Cricut products, and a "translation" into English might be helpful. In this case Cricut chipboard is not the same as UK chipboard. Cricut chipboard appears to be compressed cardboard and not compressed wood chips, as it is in the UK. The language difference makes materials identification difficult , and introduces a degree of uncertainty as to what can be used. Other example are: Basswood is Lime in the UK, and "Matboard" is mountboard. Whilst it is a U.S product, UK retailers might benefit from some level of translation being added to the range of machines and materials.

It's cardboard not wood
I have always thought of chipboard as a wood product, but the cricut chipboard is actually just compacted paper fibre. If you want to make a jigsaw, this is probably the right product for you, but I wanted to make a wood project and as cricut recommends using their branded products, I assumed this was their wood material. It's not. And you can't tell until you've opened the packet because it's sealed in plastic.
The inbuilt cutting preset for heavy chipboard does 24 passes of the knife, taking nearly 2 hours. Not even halfway through, the knife had already cut through the material and was cutting through the mat, but you can't really see this as the material is in the way. Eventually, the machine got stuck and although the mat was ruined, getting stuck halfway probably saved me from having the knife start cutting through the machine itself. Also, with a brand new knife blade, it still left flaky edges around my cut chipboard, so it needs a lot more work in sanding and finishing before it's a decent finished product. In all, not too impressed with this material.

Not what I'd call chip board
Whilst it looks an easy handy pack of chipboard perfect for those cricut crafts I'd definitely say it was more of a card board than a chip board which I think is quite expensive for what it is, however for ease of getting all supplies in one place, being cut already to fit in your mat and buying essentials at the same time especially if you're new to the cricut world then it does what it says on the box. If I were to be using it regularly I think of be trying to source an alternative. Though for a one stop shop or trial and error go for it.

Poor quality
Chipboard is not great at all. Some of the chipboard was peeling away before it was even loaded into the cricut maker. It kept tearing even more whilst cutting which left a poor result. Bought 2 packs of this and returned them. Would not buy again.

Yes I would use it a again
Not quite what I thought it was going to be but it does the job
But I thought by the description I thought it might be more like wood’
I would call it a hard cardboard’

Great for project I needed it for
Excellent product. Was struggling to cut basswood with my maker so decided to try this instead. Worked much better and still has the strength I needed for my project
