Good but tricky to work with
As a professional artist used to working with oil and
oil painting mediums usually; I bought this product
In order to do some experimental work with
watercolour. Although I was able to achieve the effect
I desired, I found that the product starts to clump
on the brush almost immediately making fine line work
difficult. I was able to get round this problem by having
a pot of warm soapy water to hand so I could keep
cleaning the brush as I worked. The product also has a
strong ammonia smell.

Very effective - but use with caution
Masking fluid is a very effective tool that can work so well it can seem like magic to the first time user. Simply 'paint' the fluid on to the area of work you want to be protected and let it dry. Then you can paint, ink, spray, pour colour onto your work as normal. When the piece is dry you can then 'gently' rub away the masking fluid that will peel away like rubbing soft, sticky adhesive (it is, in fact, latex rubber). This will reveal pristine untouched paper which you can leave white or paint as required.
There are many possibilities for use but the most obvious example is if a watercolourist wanted to paint a broad wash of colour over a sky but leave a fine line of white indicating, say a mast or edge of a white building catching the sun, the fluid would protect those areas.
But be cautious. Firstly the fluid dries quickly and will dry on any brush you use to apply it and thus pretty much ruin it. Over thirty years I've experimented with having a cup of hot water at my side and being fast about rinsing the brush and wiping it clean and so on. This will help but almost invariably the brush will clog up. So keep dedicated old/cheap brushes for this specific use. I have also used other items from the solid 'block' type brushes to cocktails sticks and the handles of brushes etc to apply it. The dried fluid then peels easily off these.
The other thing to be aware of is the potential to damage the surface of the paper if it is either too delicate, fluid applied too thickly or rubbed off too hard. I have spent a lot of time on a piece only to rip the surface as I removed the mask. Do it carefully with a soft rubber and (clean) finger tips and you should be fine. Any slight damage can usually be smoothed with the back of fingernail or a burnisher.
Oh yeah, it smells weird too but not when dry.

Does what is says
As you would expect, this is a good product that works well. I found it best not to get your face too near, work with the window open as it has a strong odour. It does give a warning about this on the bottle.

Great product! Easy to use
Used it for a design project and had fabulous results. It dried quickly and was easy to remove without damaging the texture of the paper.

Good product
I have used different makes of masking fluid before but not been very pleased. This product went on really easily and dried fairly quickly. It was easy to remove. Really pleased.
