Perfect for priming or for use as white paint
I use this as my white paint, as well as a primer and it lasts a surprising amount of time. I paint quite large pieces and use a lot of white paint, so the fact that you can get 500ml for this amount is great. I also like how it is quite thin, so if you are priming a surface it dries fairly flat without huge ridges from the brush strokes. Perfect.

For any artist
I purchased this because I needed a primer for some wood art. To be honest, I didn't know whether it would work out or not as I've never done wood art before and happily, it worked out perfectly. It was a fantastic buy. Dries within about 3 hours instead of two but I don't know if that was because I was using it on wood and not canvas. One coat was enough for what I needed it for. I'm so glad i purchased this and will be buying this for future projects.

Great for relief work
Needed Gesso for my art class. I hadn't used it before but found it easy to use. My art teacher was impressed by it's consistency.
Gesso can take along time to dry but an afternoon in the sunshine and it was ready to paint. I used acrylic inks which worked well.
I'll be buying more when this pot runs out (large pot though).

great stuff
great coverage and a nice texture, this product covered an already existing very large painting in just a couple of coats but I still did an extra one just in case. I am not sanding this large piece but a smaller piece I've covered came up nice and smooth. good price too and the lid stayed on when i dropped it too.

Produces a good key for acrylic supports
This is a staple product for preparation of support surfaces to be used in working with acrylics. It covers well, provides a smooth even finish and a good key for acrylic painting.

Canvasses and artists materials are great
I am a Fine Art degree student at Falmouth University.I can make my own canvasses if I want to,but actually the quality and price at Hobbycraft makes it not necessary.Art oils and acrylics are brilliant quality and low priced.I would recommend Hobbycraft to all artists.

Great product for adding texture
This gesso is the best I have ever used. It is good and thick so it has good coverage and holds its shape well so it is great for adding texture. Reasonable price too.

good quality
Good thick covering but dilutes evenly. Ideal on fabric as well as paper. Mixes well with acrylic paints to get a good colour.
