Not the cadmium red I was expecting!
I have no problem with the quality of these pens but the packaging is completely misleading. The packet picture clearly shows a cadmium red in tone and brightness on the front and there is no colour contents list on the packet anywhere so the picture is what I relied on. On opening and trying the pens all colours were as accurate as I expected from the packaging except the “red” - this turned out to be a very brown terracotta! Not happy as the red was the colour I would use most. Hobbycraft - this should be flagged up to Derwent urgently. They need to label their products clearly and accurately.

Disappointed
The pens inside were not true to the colour portrayed on the box. They didn’t flow on fabric. They needed constant pumping and shaking which resulted in air bubbles within the pen, making the ink flow gapped. All in all disappointing and returned.

Worth buying
Bought these on the offchance and pleasantly surprised with them. For be the meral tip is preferable to fibre tipped markers as the lines are more consistent. The acrylic can be spread wash style with a brush, or waterbrush, or in fact anything damp (I used a damp ear bud successfully) and some interesting effects can be achieved. Some reviewers mention their tendancy to blob and run. The instructions are clear and blobbing really only happens if the marker is over-pumped to start the paint flow. I would say, pump conservatively to begin with and allow time for the flow to start. My main criticism lies in the colour selection in the packs. Pack 2 is a good selection but if I were being cynical I might suggest that Derwent were trying to get you to buy all four packs. A six or eight pack option of regularly used colours mightbe a better option.

Simply bad!
These are sooooo bad!! I got both sets (colour and gray) and both are UNUSABLE!! Every time I try drawing or writing they just spill ink all over everything. A massive pool everywhere. What a waste of money!

Pens block after first use!!
Only 2x of the 5 pens work well. It's been frustrating trying to get the pens to work like they are supposed to. The paint blotches out when using for only the second time!
I will try to use them to sketch to see if they work better on paper. Using them on canvas has proven to be a bit difficult at this stage.

Good fun.
The first time I have bought these types of pens. I found it fun trying them put. I think they are more use for crofters than artists, but I suppose it's what you want to use them for that counts.

Colours not as expected but paint applies well
Colours weren't as indicated by the cap colour, for example the red was a brown colour. Application was good with good solid colour.
