How to Make Fabric Bow Bunting

Equipment needed:

* Dressmaking Scissors
* Darning Needle

Products needed:

* Cotton Fat Quarters

* Knitcraft Cotton Blend Plain DK Yarn - Teal

How to make:

Step 1: Arrange your fat quarters in the colour order of your choice. ready to use. If desired, give the fabric a quick iron.

Step 2: Lay your fabric down. You'll need to be cutting your fabric from the 45cm edge, and cutting strips of fabric 4 cm wide. If it helps, create a paper rectangle 4cm wide to use a cutting guide. Repeat this step for all other colour fabric pieces.

Step 3: Create a tight neat bow with every strip of fabric. Snip a shallow fish tail into the tail ends (see picture 4 as an example)

Step 4: Thread a darning needle of the teal yarn, long enough for your desired bunting length. Be sure to add an additiional half a metre more so you have enough on each ends to tie up your bunting.

Step 5: To attach your bows, thread into the back of each bow. It's best to thread through each bow a second time to keep it in place. Continue to attach all your bows, ensuring that you leave enough yarn at either ends to tie up your bunging.

Step 6: Now the fabric knot bunting is ready to hang up and enjoy!

How to Make Fabric Knot Bunting

Equipment needed:

* Dressmakers Scissors

* Darning Needle

Products needed:

* Cotton Fat Quarters

* Ribbon

* Women's Institute PremiumAcrylic Yarn - Orange

How to make:

Step 1: Arrange your fat quarters in the colour order of your choice. ready to use. If desired, give the fabric a quick iron.

Step 2: Keep your fabric folded, and measuring 22cm down from the fold, you'll need to cut strips 3cm wide. If it helps create a paper rectangle 3cm wide to use as a cutting guide. Repeat for all the other fabric pieces.

Step 3: Keeping all the stripes in colour order and in piles. Using the images shown to guide you, take the first strip and wrap around a length of orange ribbon over the top fold.

Trim the ribbon ends on an angle and slightly shorter than the fabric strip on both sides. Use this ribbon to cut several more ribbon strips of the same length.

Step 4: With a length of ribbon wrapped over the top fold, carefully tie a single knot towards the top (see picture 3)

Leave a nice loop at the top of the knot to use for threading in the yarn. Repeat for all the other fabric strips.

Step 5: Gather all the fabric knots together, in your desired colour order. Take a knot from each pile and thread them onto the orange yarn.

Use a threaded darning needle to make it easier. Cut the yarn when the desired length is achieved, and finish by creating a hanging loop at each end of the yarn.

Step 6: Now the fabric knot bunting is ready to hang up and enjoy!

How to Make Knotted Fabric Pom-Pom Bunting

Equipment needed:

* Hobbycraft Pom-Pom Maker 4 Pack

* Dressmakers Scissors

* Small Sharp Dressmakers Scissors

* Darning Needle

Products needed:

* Cotton Fat Quarter Pack

* Women's Institute PremiumAcrylic Yarn - Orange

How to make:

Step 1: Arrange your fat quarters in the colour order of your choice. ready to use. If desired, give the fabric a quick iron.

Step 2: Keep your fabric folded, and measuring 22cm down from the fold, you'll need to cut strips 3cm wide. If it helps create a paper rectangle 4cm wide to use as a cutting guide. Repeat for all the other fabric pieces.

Step 3: Taking a strip, open it up to its full 22cm length. Fold the strip in on it's longest side (as shown in picture 4) repeat for the second strip. Tie your two strips together using a double knot, leaving some length in the two tails (as shown).

Step 4: To decorate the bunting further, add more tied fabric as before, between the original knots. Use the same patterned fabric strips to match the bunting strips when tying on these additional knots.

Step 5: Remove the smallest Pom-Pom maker from the kit. Follow the instructions to begin making a Pom-Pom, using the orange yarn. Leave the two strands of tying yarn attached.

Step 6: When a few orange Pom-Poms have been made, begin tying them onto the bunting. Use a darning needle to thread one of the Pom-Pom tying yarns through the fabric knots. Only use every other fabric knot with the two different patterned fabric tied together. Secure each Pom-Pom in place with triple knot. Trim off the excess yarn.

Step 7: Now the knotted fabric Pom-Pom bunting is ready to hang up and enjoy!

How to Make a Pom-Pom Bunting

Equipment needed:

* Hobbycraft Pom-Pom Maker 4 Pack

* Small Sharp Dressmakers Scissors

Products needed:

* Knitcraft Cotton Blend Plain DK Yarn - Hot Pink

* Knitcraft Cotton Blend Plain DK Yarn - Mustard

* Knitcraft Cotton Blend Plain DK Yarn - Teal

* Knitcraft Cotton Blend Plain DK Yarn - Bright Blue

How to make:

Step 1: Begin by knotting together three different coloured yarns. Plait these together, this will become your bunting cord. Continue for as long as your desired bunting length, when finished cut and knot the yarn to secure the end.

Step 2: Remove the pink, second smallest Pom-Pom maker from the kit. Follow the instructions to begin making a Pom-Pom. Leave the two strands of tying yarn attached (as shown in picture 4)

Step 3: Continue to make more Pom-Poms with the same pink Pom-Pom maker, using all the different coloured yarns.

Step 4: Simply attach each Pom-Pom to the bunting cord. Thread one of the tying yarns of each Pom-Pom into the bunting cord at the correct place. Triple knot the tying yarns around two of the bunting cord yarns, rather than the single one, for extra durabilty. Trim off the tying yarns once all the Pom-Poms are in place.

Step 5: Now the Pom-Pom bunting is ready to hang up and enjoy!

How to Make Paper Flag Bunting

Equipment needed:

* Scissors

* Hole Punch

* Bone Folder

* Pencil

Products needed:

* Patterned Paper Pad

* Knitcraft Cotton Blend Plain DK Yarn - Bright Blue

How to make:

Step 1: Begin by choosing a nice selection of six different patterned papers from the paper pad.

Step 2: Trim each sheet into three equal rectangles, measuring about 5 cm wide. Fold the rectangle in half with shortest edges together and snip a fish tail into the short open ends. Using a hole punch, create a shallow hole in the centre of the folded edge. (see picture 3 for guidance)

Step 3: Once a few of these paper flags are made, line them up in a colour order sequence ready to use. Tie a little loop at the end of the blue yarn for hanging the bunting. Open out a paper flag to pull through a loop of yarn from the inside. Tie a double knot leaving a small loop. Close the paper flag and gentle pull the yarn to sit the knot on top. Leave about a 5 cm gap and tie in place the second flag as before. (See picture 4)

Step 4: Continue to tie on more paper flags until the desired length is achieved. Cut the yarn leaving enough to tie another hanging loop at this end of the bunting.

Step 5: Now the paper flag bunting is ready to hang up and enjoy!
