Stuff tail firmly, leave long tail for sewing.
*Sew head onto body over rnds 15-19 of the bottom of the head. (Optional: I like to insert a dowel into my toy’s necks to avoid a wobbly head. If you choose to do this, insert dowel into body and stuff around it, and push the top of the dowel between rnds 18-19 of the head as you lower the head onto the body. If you don’t wish to do this, stuff the neck very firmly with stuffing and sew the head on thoroughly to avoid the wobbly neck.
* Sew arms either side of the body, just under where the body and head join, over the top two rows of the body.
* Sew the ears at the top of the head, over rnds 18-26. You can play with the placement until you are happy with the look.
* Sew tail to the middle of the back of the body at the bottom, over rnds 38-42.
* Embroider the nose with black yarn, enter through any point at the bottom of the head and come out through point C, enter through point A and exit through point C. Repeat for points B and D. Lastly, exit through the original point you entered the head through. Tie off and hide the knot inside the head.
* Using black yarn, embroider a black line over the top of each eye to create a more “rabbit-like” eye shape.

Sl/st then fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Stuff the yellow top and bottom lightly and sew onto the lantern body, directly in the centre of the top and bottom of the sphere.
(Using yellow yarn)
* Cut a length of yarn approx 50cm, tie a double knot to create a small loop. (Loop should be approx 1/2 an inch wide, you can make longer or shorter if preferred.)
* Thread a black pearl bead under the knot (a needle threader is helpful for this) and then, using your needle, thread one of your two yarn ends from top to bottom through your lantern and leave it hanging out of the bottom of your lantern.
* With the second yarn end, thread it through the top hat of your lantern and wrap it around the body of the lantern to create segments, wrapping it from the top, through the bottom and back around until you have 6 segments. Once you are happy with this, thread your yarn end through the bottom of the lantern to lay next to the first yarn end.
* Thread another bead onto these and tie a knot to secure.
* Cut a rectangle of card/cardboard, the same length you’d like your tassel to be - mine was approx 1.5”.
* Wrap the yellow yarn lengthways around the cardboard until it’s a good thickness - I did approx 45 full wraps around the card.
* Cut across the yarn to create a long yarn bundle and tie the strands together in the middle using the two strands hanging down from your lantern. Tie securely with a couple of tight knots.
* Brush all the strands downwards with your fingers and then, using a new length of yellow yarn, tie another knot about one cm from the top of your tassel to create the tassel shape, the use the leftover ends to wrap around a few times to secure and then use your needle to hide the
ends inside the middle of the tassel.
