Side one: Cast on 40 stitches Row 1 – Knit to end Row 2 – Inc 1 st at either end in P (42 sts) Row 3 – Inc 1 st at either end in K (44 sts) Row 4 – As row 2 (46 sts)

Row 5 – As row 3 (48 sts) Row 6 – Inc 1 st at beg of row, P to end (49 sts) Row 7 – K to end Row 8 – Inc 1 st at beg of row, P to end (50 sts)

Row 9 – K to end Row 10 – P to end Row 11 – K to end Row 12 – P to end

Row 13 – K to end Row 14 – P to end Row 15 – K, dec 1 st at end of row (49sts) Row 16 – P to end

Step 11
Repeat until rib measures 18 centimetres. Cast off loosely in pattern.
Step 12
For side two: Repeat side one starting with a purl row to make a mirror image of this side. Sew two sides together.
Step 13
Fringing – Cut lengths of red yarn approximately 14 centimetres. I wrapped mine around my phone and then cut into two equal bundles. Thread two pieces of yarn and form a knot along the top edge of rib all around the top.

Step 14
Pom poms – Make two pompoms using the pompom maker.
Step 15
Hanging loop– Cast on four stitches in cream. Knit in stocking stitch until knitting reaches your preferred length. Put two stitches on spare needle or holder. Continue in stocking st to create a 'ribbon' to hold pompoms; I would suggest about 10 to 15 centimetres. Cast off. Repeat on remaining stitches to match. Cast off. Attach the pompoms to the ends. Sew wide end to top of rib, loop the band to create hanging loop and secure to the rib.
