Step 1
Prepare your board by removing any stickers and if needed lightly sand any rough or raised edges.

Step 2

Choose 2 paints, one in a light shade and one in a darker shade.

Paint half the board in each colour overlapping slightly in the middle. This is your first coat, so you don’t need to worry about blending too much at this stage.

Leave to dry.

Step 3

Step 4

Cut and weed your design.

Apply your transfer tape and set aside for later.

Step 5
Paint a second coat of each colour on the board, ensuring you apply a slightly thicker layer of each colour this time.
Step 6
With a wider brush, gently blend the colours into each other starting where they meet in the middle. Slowly move an inch or two to each side of the centre, creating a subtle ombre effect. At this point, brush the excess onto the sides to cover them.
Step 7
Using a soft 1-inch brush, blend your colours from one end to the other until you get the desired effect and then leave to dry completely before doing the same on the reverse.

Step 8
Making sure that the surface is completely dry, apply your vinyl decal using transfer tape.
Step 9
And there you have it, your very own beautiful painted celebration sign is complete!
