Cricut: How to Make a Pennant Flag
Welcome the arrival of spring with this easy-to-make fabric pennant flag. It'll add a wonderful detail to any space you love to relax in, complementing the décor effortlessly.
Either of the Cricut Maker machines can be used to create this project; you'll just need to make sure you have the rotary blade to hand and a 12 x 24" FabricGrip Cutting Mat.

You will need
* Cricut Machine
* Cricut FabricGrip Mat
* Rotary Blade and Housing
* Cricut Brayer and Remover Set
* Sewing Machine
* Sewing essentials
* Cotton Calico Fabric Pack 152cm x 2m
* Cricut Shimmer Sky Felt Pack 12x12"
* Cream Polyester Felt Sheet A4
* Pastel Plain Red Cotton Fat Quarters
* Hemline Iron-On Interfacing
* Cotton Thread - Ecru, 3346 & 989
* Embroidery Needles
* Cricut Design Space app (installed on a desktop or mobile device)
Start by opening the project in the Cricut Design Space app: click here to open the project link. Select 'Open' followed by 'Open Cricut Design Space Application'.
The app will open (you may be prompted to log in) and the project overview screen will appear.
Select 'Make it' and prepare you cutting mats.
Click continue, and change the Base Material to Felt and change the tools to Rotary Blade.
For the orange fabric, change the Base Material to Cotton.
For the calico, change the Base Material to Calico.
Follow the on-screen instructions to cut your materials.
Carefully remove the delicate letters from the FabricGrip Cutting Mat.
Iron on the interfacing to one of the calico triangles.
Take the light green embroidery thread and split it so that you have two strands and four strands.
Stitch the 'hello' to the backing green using a running stitch. Then stitch around the dark green and around each letter for 'Spring'.
With right sides together, pin and stitch the two long edges of the flag.
Trim the corner and turn through.
Press well with an iron.
Take the long orange fabric strips, fold, and press 0.5cm on each edge.
Fold in half and pin.
Straight stitch all the way along each strip.
Take the shorter orange fabric strip, fold, and press 1cm in on each edge.
Fold in half again and press.
Pin the two long fabric strips to the centre then stitch across both straps.
Pin the orange strip to the top of the flag, using a 1cm seam allowance stitch across.
Fold over and press, pin in place.
Top stitch across.
Your pennant banner is then ready to hang up in pride of place in your home!
