Frames aren't just for photos, you know. With this project, using your Cricut machine, layer matte vinyl on the glass panel of the frame to create a bright and bold, abstract tropical design. It's perfect for adding a touch of the tropics to your gallery wall at home.

How to make

Step 1

Open Design Space and in the image search, type '#M22BEA7CF' or choose another image from this 'Contemporary' collection. For this project, I've also added in a few extra palms but this is completely optional

Step 2

Before you cut your shapes, change the colours of the vinyl to be similar to your vinyl colours, this will make it easier for you to identify which vinyl to cut and when

Step 3

Cut and weed your vinyl paying particular attention to the tricky leaves

Step 4

Peel your vinyl off of the backing and start sticking the images on your open frame – you might want to refer to the design in Design Space to make sure layer them up in the right order

Step 5

5a. For any trickier bits of vinyl, use a small piece of transfer tape to pick up the design

5b. Place the tape on your frame and use the scraper tool to place it on top of the design
