Step 1

Cut your soap into smaller chunks and place in a heat-proof bowl (400g will make two medium-size bars depending on the mould).

Heat up over boiling water on the hob to melt down.

Step 2

This is when you can add extra ingredients such as drops of colour, fragrance and exfoliants such as lavender and dried petals. Add ingredients as the soap is cooling rather than when it is really hot. Mix any additions in thoroughly to make sure it's evenly distributed throughout the soap base.

Step 3

Pour the mixture into your moulds, don't fill it completely as this will make it difficult to remove. Leave to set.

Once set, place in the freezer for 20 minutes to make removal easier.

Step 4

Silicone moulds can also be used for soap making! Follow the same process as above, but pour into the silicone mould to set.

Once it's fully set, gently peel the mould back over itself to release the soaps.

Finished Soap

Your soap is now complete!

Note: Finished soaps should be wrapped if kept for long periods as they can attract moisture from the air or dry out, losing fragrance and colour. Melt & Pour soaps should suit all skin types but, if you have an adverse reaction, rinse with lots of water and stop use.
