Step-1
Make 60 sunburst granny squares, 30 in each colourway.
Step-2
Colourway 1: Round 1 – Cream Round 2 – Mustard Round 3 – Cream Round 4 – Grey Round 5 – Grey
Step-3
Colourway 2: Round 1 – Mustard Round 2 – Cream Round 3 – Mustard Round 4 – Grey Round 5 – Grey
Step-4
Method: Ch6, join with a slst to form a ring. (If you prefer you can use a magic ring instead) Work over your yarn tail so you can pull it tight after round one to close the hole.
Step-5
Round 1: Ch4 (counts as tr and ch1). *Tr into ring, ch1. Rep from * a further 10 times. Slst into third ch of initial ch4, fasten off. (12 tr, 12 ch1 spaces)
Step-6
Round 2: Join yarn in any ch1 space. Ch3 (counts as tr), tr in same space, ch1. *In the next space tr x2, ch1. Rep from * a further 10 times. Slst into top of initial ch3, fasten off. (24 tr, 12 ch1 spaces)
Step-7
Round 3: Join yarn in any ch1 space. Ch3 (counts as tr), tr x2 in same space, ch1. *In the next space tr x3, ch1. Rep from * a further 10 time. Slst into top of initial ch3, fasten off. (36 tr, 12 ch1 spaces)
Step-8
Round 4: Join yarn in any ch1 space. Ch3 (counts as tr), tr x2 in same space, ch1. In the next space tr x3. *In the next space dtr x3, ch3, dtr x3, ch1. Tr x3, ch1 in the next 2 spaces. Rep from * a further 3 times, omitting the second part of the last repeat as you created it before your first corner. Slst into top of initial ch3, do not fasten off. (24 dtr, 24 tr, 4 corner spaces, 12 ch1 spaces)
Step-9
Round 5: Ch1 (does not count as a st), dc, in each st and ch1 space. Dc x3 in each corner space. Join with a slst into first dc made, fasten off and weave in any loose ends. (72 dc)
Step-10
Joining instructions Using grey yarn join your squares on the wrong side of your work in the back loops only. (Or use your own preferred joining method)
Step-11
Alternate the block colours and join 6 rows of 10 squares. Once this is complete join the left side to the right side to create a tube.
Step-12
To fasten the top edge of your cushion line up the squares so you have 5 squares on the front and 5 on the back. Join your yarn through the first stitch of your front right square, going through the corresponding stitch on the back square. Dc along the edge making sure you are going through the front and back stitches. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Step-13
To fasten the bottom edge of your cushion you need to line up the squares in the opposite way to the top edge (to make a pyramid shape) This will mean the squares on the left and right will be folded in half and the other 8 squares will be lined up (4 on each side). Join the yarn in the same way as the top edge but only double crochet along the folded square on the right then fasten off. Join the yarn on the folded square on the left and repeat.
Step-14
Sew your snap fasteners along the open bottom edge, making sure to line them up on the opposite side. Your cushion cover is now complete.
Step-15
Lining and stuffing: Using a cotton fabric sew a bag slightly smaller than your finished cover in the same pyramid shape. Before closing the bag stuff with polyester stuffing or beanbag filling. Place inside your cushion cover and close the snap fasteners.
