The final week of Amigurumi April is here and this weeks fantastic project was designed by @beardieandblondiecrafts.

This cute little unicorn absolutely loves sweet treats, but who can blame her, don't we all? This Unicorn has taken her love to the next level, by baking herself the biggest donut we have ever seen! After all the love and care she put into her baking, she just couldn't bear to eat it, so she now proudly displays her work for all to see! Learn to crochet your very own unicorn using the amigurumi technique. Optionally, you may use fewer colours for her tail and mane, or more, customise the perfect unicorn.

Mane

Using yarn E, ch 9. Work in rows.

Row 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, 8 dc, turn. 8 sts

Rows 2-15: 1 ch, 8 dc, turn.

Change to yarn F.

Rows 16-29: 1 ch, 8 dc, turn.

Change to yarn D.

Rows 30-43: 1 ch, 8 dc, turn.

Change to yarn A.

Rows 44-57: 1 ch, 8 dc, turn.

Change to yarn G.

Rows 58-71: 1 ch, 8 dc, turn.

Change to yarn H.

Rows 72-85: 1 ch, 8 dc, turn.

Finishing: Fasten off. Fold in half, sew together and curl up in a zig-zag pattern. Secure the curl by sewing the piece together in a zig-zag fashion.

Using yarn E, ch 25.

Round 1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, dc around working both sides of the ch. 48 sts

Round 2: *4 dc in next st, 23 dc* 2 times. 54 sts

Round 3: Dc around.

Change to yarn F.

Rounds 4-5: Dc around.

Change to yarn D.

Rounds 6-7: Dc around.

Change to yarn A.

Rounds 8-9: Dc around.

Finishing: Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Close open end by flattening and whip stitching front loops of each side, stuff one end slightly as you go. Once stuffed, roll up and secure the unstuffed end.

Donut

Using yarn C, ch 60.

Round 1: 1 dc into 1st ch, creating a circle, dc in remaining ch. 60 sts

Round 2: *Inc, 9 dc* 6 times. 66 sts

Round 3: *5 dc, inc, 5 dc* 6 times. 72 sts

Round 4: *Inc, 11 dc* 6 times. 78 sts

Donut Topping

Using yarn D, ch 60.

Round 1: 1 dc into 1st ch, creating a circle, dc in remaining ch. 60 sts

Round 2: *Inc, 9 dc* 6 times. 66 sts

Round 3: *5 dc, inc, 5 dc* 6 times. 72 sts

Round 4: *Inc, 11 dc* 6 times. 78 sts

Round 5: *6 dc, inc, 6 dc* 6 times. 84 sts

Round 6: *Inc, 13 dc* 6 times. 90 sts

Rounds 7-9: Dc around.

On the next round, you will create 'drips' of icing using a magic chain.

Magic ch (MCh): Make a ch of given length, then starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc down the length of the ch, then sc into last worked st (st magic ch started from).

Finishing: Slst to join. Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew to donut. Using A, B and E, embroider small sprinkles randomly across the top of the piece.

Assembly

1. Sew head to neck.

2. Sew mane down middle of head and neck.

3. Sew horn in front of mane on to the head.

4. Sew an ear either side of the mane on to the head.

5. Embroider eyes in I.

6. Sew cheeks to head near the eyes.

7. Sew tail to pointed tip at the end of the body.

8. Sew legs to body.

9. Sew donut topping onto donut.

10. Push donut onto body.

11. Admire!
