How to Make a Personalised Initial Banner
These quirky, personalised initial banners will make a great addition to any gallery wall, and they're the perfect way to bring a little personality to kids' and teens' bedrooms. Celebrate the first letter of their name in style! Hang your banner flag pendant alongside photographs, use it to brighten up a blank wall or decorate your door with this design.
The stitching around your letter can be customised to suit your preference – beginner sewers might prefer a running stitch, more confident crafters might like to try a blanket stitch or an overstitch. To find out how to create more decorative stitches, head over to the Beginners' Stitch Guide.
Top tip: Using a contrast colour thread gives a punchy finish and wonderfully handmade feel!

How to make
You will also need:
- A printed out letter
Start by gathering all of the supplies needed for the project.
Print out a letter to the size that you'd like on the banner. Roughly cut out the letter.
Pin the printed letter onto the felt and cut out, then pin your fabric letter to the banner.
Sew the letter on to the banner. You will need a good sharp needle as the banner canvas is quite thick. I used a simple stabbing running stitch for the 'A' but you could use a blanket stitch like I did for the 'K'.
To make the letter stand out more, you can sew a running stitch around the edge of the letter.
The banner is then ready to be hung up in your home!
