It can be really hard to craft for men, especially on Valentine's day when most things are all pink and red! But this simple card is a great way of including something handmade in your gift to a loved one – the key is to stick to more blue and grey based colours, while still including classic heart shapes.

How to make

Step 1

Use a craft knife and metal ruler to cut a rectangle of white card 1 cm smaller than the dimensions of the card blank. Position this centrally on top of the card and lightly mark the position in pencil. Glue the white card in place, lining it up with the pencil markers. Rub out the pencil markings.

Step 2

Draw and cut out a heart template. Use this to draw around four times on to a sheet of from your paper pack. Cut out the four hearts using either the craft knife or sharp scissors.

Step 3

Punch out three small hearts from the same paper.

Step 4

Cut a length of coloured string, slightly longer than required…you can trim off the excess at the end.

Step 5

Arrange the string, large hearts and small hearts on to the card. When you're happy with the layout, glue everything in place.

Step 6

Print out a 'Love' message and glue to the front of the card.
