Sometimes making your little ones Halloween costume from scratch can seem like quite a daunting task, however as the below guide shows, it needn't be, you'll have yourself a marvellous, magical wizards cloak in no time at all!

Step-1
To make sure that the cape is the right length measure from the shoulders down to the floor and add two centimetres. How wide the fabric needs to be depends on how voluminous you would like your cape, I measured across the back from shoulder to shoulder and then multiplied this by four.

Step-2
Hem the top of the cape by folding it over two centimetre, pin in place and then stitch either using a sewing machine or by hand.

Step-3
Cut out different sized star and moon crescent shapes from felt sheets.

Step-4
Lay the cape on a flat surface and position the felt shapes on top, secure in place using a glue gun and leave to dry. If you prefer you could stitch the shapes on by hand.

Step-5
So that the cape can be tied around the neck, pass a length of ribbon through the hem. Make sure that the length of ribbon is long enough to pass all the way through the cape, you could leave the ribbon attached to the reel, and then cut it off once you know how much you need to avoid any wastage.

Step-6
Gather the fabric slightly along the length of ribbon and drape it around your budding wizard and tie in a bow!

Step-7
Then all that's left to do is grab your trick-or-treat bag and you're ready to go!
