Jar Candles

1. Pour your wax into a heat-proof bowl and pop over a saucepan full of boiling water to melt slowly or the hob.

2. Add a little super glue to the bottom of the wick and place in the centre of the jar whilst the wax is melting.

3. Add any colourings into your wax and pour into the jars, keep the wick upright by placing two straws either side to keep it propped up whilst the wax sets.

4. Leave to solidify, remove the straws and screw on the jar lid.

Pillar Candles

1. Pour your wax into a heat-proof bowl and pop over a saucepan full of boiling water to melt slowly on the hob.

2. Add a little super glue to the bottom of the wick and place at the bottom of the mould.

3. Add any colourings into your wax and pour into the moulds, keep the wick upright by placing two straws either side to keep it propped up whilst the wax sets.

4. Leave the candle to set completely (setting times may vary depending on what wax you use) before turning out of the mould.

How to Use Upside Down Candle Moulds

Some silicone candle moulds may require the wick to come out of the bottom of the mould. This is common amongst shaped moulds where the top of the design isn't flat.

Taking a needle, pierce a hole in the centre on the bottom of the mould - make sure the hole isn't big enough for wax to seep through. Then, thread the wick through so the metal plate reaches where the bottom of the candle will be. Using a paper straw and a small bit of super glue, secure the wick base to the straw and sit it on the open end of the candle mould.

Prepare the wax in the same way as above and pour into the candle mould, ensuring the wick stays in the correct position.

How to Make Two-Tone Candles

Make two-tone candles by splitting the wax into two pots and dye them different colours. After securing your wick, pour in the first colour and leave to set before topping up the mould with the second colour.
