How to make

Galaxy Egg 1: Marbled Step-1

Marbled Give your egg 2 coats of black acrylic paint as a base and let it dry.

Step-2
Cover your table with paper towels or newspaper to protect it then fill the plastic container three-quarters full with water at room temperature, (if the water is too cold or too hot, the paints will sink or thicken too quickly).
Step-3
Drip a few small drops of both the Vitrail and Ceramic paints of your choice over the water surface.
Step-4
Lightly swirl the water with the wooden skewer to combine the colors a little for effect. Take care not to over-mix.

Step-5
Working quickly, dip an egg into the water, starting at one end of the container turning it around to the other end until it’s covered all over with the glossy marble colour.

Step-6
Hang your painted eggs up to dry overnight. When dry exchange the string for ribbons to finish off your marbled egg collection.

Galaxy Egg 2: Nebula Step-1:

Paint your egg with a couple of coats of black acrylic paint and leave to dry

Step-2
Using a small flat brush, sweep acrylic colour in turquoise (I used Pebeo Dyna Iridescent Turquoise) randomly across the surface of the egg leaving much of the black showing. Leave to dry.
2-9.jpg?sw=680&q=85
Step-3
Sponge other colours of acrylic paint across the egg separately in purple, dark blue and pink, one after the other. Leave to dry.
4-7.jpg?sw=680&q=85
Step-4
Use Gold acrylic sparingly on the sponge and sponge a random texture across the surface. Leave to dry.
5-7.jpg?sw=680&q=85
Step-5
Mix up a 50:50 mix of white acrylic with water in a cup so it is thinned down enough for spattering with a brush. Flick small spatters of white paint with a stiff brush across the egg to represent stars.

Step-6
Finish off applying small random dots of gold here and there to enhance the galaxy like effect.

Galaxy Egg 3: Folied Stars Step-1

Paint your egg with a couple of coats of black acrylic paint and leave to dry

Step-2

Mix up a 50:50 mix of turquoise acrylic paint (I used Pebeo Turquoise Dyna Iridescent) with water in a cup so it is thinned down enough for spattering with a toothbrush. Flick small spatters of turquoise paint with a toothbrush across the egg to represent the galaxy. Gently sponge off any excess paint. Leave to dry.

Step-3

Repeat the above flicking technique this time using using pink acrylic watered down. Leave to dry.

3-9.jpg?sw=680&q=85
Step-4

Apply small random dots and blobs of Mixtion Gilding Paste to represent stars. Leave to dry (less than an hour) until the glue goes from white to transparent and feels tacky.

Step-5

Step-6

Finish off applying silver paint sparingly on a sponge here and there to enhance the galaxy like effect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great idea Great variety of methods and easy to follow instructions however the ceramic eggs from Hobbycraft don’t have the hanging fixture built in so I’m wondering how we are meant to make these into hanging decorations as this step is not mentioned.
