How to Sew a Firework Embroidery Hoop Decoration

How to make

Step-1

Gather all of your materials, wash and iron the navy fabric. The DMC threads you will need are: C519, C995, C820, C666, C900 C740, C972, C915, C415, C816 3843 and 601.

Download and print the fireworks template, transfer onto the DMC Magic Paper using a lightbox or good light source. Place the magic paper and fabric into the 8″ hoop.

Starting with the blue fireworks, follow the design and do several lines of each colour in a split stitch. the blue strands used for this are C519, C995, C820 (use 3 strands for these) and 3843 (use 2 strands).

For the large orange firework, use colours C666, C900, C740, C972 (use 3 strands for these) and 601 (use 2 strands). Fill in the triangles with C900 in a satin stitch and add dash stitches around the edge in C915.

For the large orange firework, use colours C915, C666 and C816 (use 3 strands for these) and 601 (use 2 strands). Add dash stitches around the edge in C972.

For the small yellow firework, use colours C900, C740, C972 (use 3 strands for these) and 741(use 2 strands). Fill in the triangles with C900 in a satin stitch and add dash stitches around the edge in C915. Take the embroidery out of the hoop and trim down the magic paper.

Step-7
Wash away the magic paper and iron.

Place the piece back into the hoop.

Add the firework 'bursts' using french knots in 3843 (2 strands) and C519 (2 strands) for the blue and 741 (2 strands) and C740 (2 strands) for the orange. Add the stars in C415 using 2 strands.

Finally, trim any excess fabric and back you hoop.
