How to Make Poured Paint Flower Pots

Level
Beginner
Time
1 hour
Budget
10 - 30

This is a fun way to decorate a plant pot, with a technique that even the youngest of artists can master. Acrylic paint is the best option to use for this project because it's easy to pour, it's weatherproof, and it doesn't crack once dried. Remember to cover clothes and surfaces!

How to make

Step 1

Cover the hole at the bottom of the pot with tape. Turn the pot upside down.

Step 2

If the paint is very thick, thin with a little water first. You can also transfer the paint into plastic cups to make it easier to pour. Then gently pour paint, one colour at a time, over the bottom of the pot so that it trickles down the sides. Move the pot around to ensure an even coverage. You can then add glitter for a bit of extra sparkle. Transfer to a piece of baking paper to dry. When dry, remove the tape from the bottom.

Step 3

Tidy up the rim and inside of the pot with paint. Add a coat of varnish to seal the paint and to make it durable.
