Perfect beginner project & home accessory!
I bought this to decoupage after getting bored of my husband complaining about ugly tissue boxes. I hadn't actually done decoupage before, though I knew the principles, and I watched a few YouTube videos.
It really is pretty easy, especially on something which is all flat surfaces like this box.
I used acrylic paint (white, two coats) as a base, regular PVC glue watered down and paper napkins to decorate (bought elsewhere) and just kind of winged it. Sealed with matte acrylic spray.
The surface was pretty nice, though the label on the bottom stuck a little bit and tore the surface. But it didn't show so I wasn't too concerned.
It turned out pretty well I think! Apparently you can actually put one of those square boxes of tissues inside this box, but I don't do that, I just remove tissues from a regular box, fold them up and pull the first one through the hole.

Disappointing
Im a regular buyer of these boxes but recently the quality of what I’ve brought has been disappointing. The boxes had small stains on the underneath,buckled cardboard on the corner and small chips which are very noticeable once the box is painted. Make sure to closely inspect in store so you don’t waste your money like me as I had to throw mine away.

Wrong for tissues
I returned this as despite being well constructed it did not fit a standard tissue box inside it.
I tried it with just the tissues inside without the box and the lid came off whenever a tissue was pulled out.

Quick and easy project
I am currently decoupaging these tissue boxes for every room in the house! So quick, easy and totally lovely ... so much nicer than ugly bought tissue boxes. Good value for money ... just wish there was more choice in decoupage/tissue papers.

Mache tissue box
I finally got around to doing this, I used fabric, tacky glue and pegs to secure fabric in place till dry. It matches my curtains and cushions that I also made.
