Thought I would give this a go even though I felt it was overpriced at £9.00 per block. It's not proper Basswood its full of bark inclusions and it's tuff as old boots. The grain is all over the place going in all directions. As soon as I started carving it I discovered it was hollow in the middle. Waste of money.

Nice chunk of wood, could be finished better.
Was the size and shape that I needed, and online at other places not much difference in price. Buying inshore gave a chance to root out any knots or other defects. Planned finish OK, but could be better one side a bit rough. Not a deal killer (obviously, I purchased) but something to pay attention to.

Basswood
I do scroll saw word, and trying my hand at compound cutting, have found basswood easy to work without the blade going off line due to grain if such as oak and similar hard woods.
