should come with hoop or frame but otherwise great
I am actually quite happy with this kit, as others have mentioned the yarn may come out - but if you use an embroidery hoop to hold it taught i have not had any problems. I have also bought some other chunky yarn and punch needle frame to complete other projects using the needle which have turned out well. There is technique required to stop the yarn coming out but a quick look at youtube or similar will give you the troubleshooting required to be successful! Mainly make sure you push the needle all the way through to the base of the handle and when you pull it back make sure you don’t raise it too high - just enough to move it forwards for the next stitch.

Disappointed
I'm disappointed with this kit. It doesn't work very well. The kit doesn't come with a frame to stretch the fabric taut. I tried to do it using an embroidery hoop but even then the fabric comes loose, the needle makes holes that are too big and so the wool loops don't stay gripped in the fabric and pull out as you're working.
I bought it in store so didn't see any reviews prior to purchase. Had I looked online I wouldn't have bought it as the reviews for all the Hobbycraft punch needle kits are poor. I think you need to improve the quality of these kits.

Aida should NOT be used for punch needling!
I just bought this yesterday in-store I thought it was great until I tried to do it.. it comes with Aida which is something that they DO NOT use for punch needle after extensive research they need to include monk cloth there's a big difference! The yarn included was way too thick but will keep it for a crocheting I suppose! Just a shame that the Aida with the pattern on just ripped. Aida is for cross stitching and other embroidery NOT punch needling. I hope Hobbycraft replaces the fabric and the yarn included in the box because it would have been such an amazing kit!

Waste of Money!
Please DO NOT waste your money! My granddaughter bought this with her Christmas money..box looks very appealing…She was so looking forward to spending the afternoon starting this picture.. we set up the needle punch with the wool and proceeded as instructions, the punch made big holes in the fabric, the wool just kept coming ‘undone’ so frustrating .. it really should have a frame to set the fabric firm instead you are fiddling with the ‘floppy’ material ..! I have lots of patience for crafting but this was totally useless… wish we had bought a cross stitch instead .. complete waste of her Christmas gift money.. I decided to give her the money to replace it so then became my loss! Obviously cannot be returned because we had attempted to use! Very DISAPPOINTED!

Needs more than is in the box or explained
You need a frame before you can do this which isn’t included and nothing tells you it’s needed. I worked it out when it just wasn’t working properly.
