3 Easy Ways to Make Edible Slime

Discover three edible slime recipes that are just as stretchy and gooey as the slime you love – but they taste good too! You can choose from marshmallow slime, gummy bear slime, and chocolate dough slime, or perhaps you can just make all three!

Make sure you give your hands a good wash before you get started, and cover clothes and surfaces, as the DIY slime has oil and colouring in it that will stain clothes. Note that it will lose its elasticity after a while, but you can add it back in by giving it a 10 second blast in the microwave. Just make sure you check it's not too hot before you get your hands on it.

How to Make

Marshmallow Putty

This stretchy fluffy putty looks pretty and tastes delicious. If you don't want to add food colouring to your mixture, use coloured marshmallows instead.

Ingredients:

* 1 cup mini marshmallows

* 2 teaspoons vegetable oil

* 3 tablespoons icing sugar

* 3 tablespoons corn flour

* 2 tablespoon sprinkles

* 4 to 5 drops of food colouring

Marshmallow Putty

How to make:

Measure out a cup of marshmallows and tip into a bowl. In a separate bowl, measure out the icing sugar and corn flour and mix together.

Place the marshmallows in the microwave and melt for 30 seconds. If they are not totally melted pop them back in for another 10 seconds. Once melted, quickly give the marshmallows a stir and add the icing sugar and corn flour mixture a little at a time, stirring thoroughly. Keep adding it until the mixture becomes difficult to stir.

Check that the mixture has cooled down, then get your hands in and knead the mixture.

If you like you can add a few dots of food colouring and mix it into the slime with your hands. If the mixture starts to get sticky again add more of the corn flour/ icing sugar mix.

Add a teaspoon of oil and work it into the slime with your hands - this helps to reduce stickiness. If it is still sticky, add a little more.

Add sprinkles to the slime to finish. You can store your slime in a jar or have a play and eat it straight away!

Gummy bear slime

This slime is super stretchy and super sticky. Kids will love getting their hands (literally) stuck into the mixture!

Ingredients:

* 1 cup gummy bears

* 2 tablespoons corn flour

* 3 tablespoons icing sugar

* 3 teaspoons vegetable oil

* Food colouring (optional)

Gummy bear slime

How to make:

Measure out a cup of gummy bears into a bowl. In a separate bowl, measure out two tablespoons of icing sugar and cornflour and mix together.

Place the gummy bears in the microwave for 30 seconds, or until the sweets have melted. Quickly stir in the cornflour and icing sugar mix, 1 tablespoon at a time. Continue until the mixture is smooth and silky.

Stir in a little food colouring if you like.

Add a teaspoon of oil and stir it into the mix to make it less sticky. At this point you can add more oil if it is still sticky, or more cornflour/sugar if it is too wet. This is a super stretchy slime that tastes delicious.

Chocolate dough slime

This slime is mouldable with a texture like playdough. We have made it chocolatey with cocoa and yummy chocolate chunks, but you could omit the cocoa and add more cornflour if you want it plain - or add flavourings, like vanilla, lemon or almond extract.

Ingredients:

* 1/4 cup syrup

* 1/2 cup corn flour

* 1 tbsp cocoa powder

* 1 tsp oil

* Milk chocolate chunks

How to make:

Measure out the syrup and heat in a microwave for 30 seconds.

Add the corn flour to the golden syrup and stir to combine, then add the cocoa and mix in.

Add the oil and work it into the mixture with your hands to form a dough. If it feels dry, add a bit more oil.

Scatter choc chunks and mix into the slime to finish.
