How to Crochet a Scrunchie

You will need
5mm hook
Knitcraft Cotton Blend in any colour
Darning needle
Scissors
Hair Tie
Abbreviations (UK Terms)
Ch – chain
Slst – slip stitch
Htr – half treble
Rnd – round
St – stitch
Pattern Notes
Starting chain at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.
Using 5mm hook, ch60. Slst to 1st ch to begin working in the round.
Rnd 1: Ch1 (does not count as st here and throughout), work 1htr into each st, slst to top of 1st htr. (60sts)
Repeat rnd 1 until work measures 6cm.
With WS facing outward, place the hair tie around the work.
Fold the work over the hair tie and start to slst around, working into the previous row and the beginning ch at the same time to join.
Fasten off and sew in any ends.
Select 2 colours. Follow the pattern for the plain scrunchie. Begin by working 5thr in each colour using the intarsia method. Swap colours after 3 rows. Swap again after a further 3 rows. Continue until the scrunchie is the correct length.
Select 4 colours. Following the pattern for the plain scrunchie, work 15htr in each colour.
Following for the pattern for the plain scrunchie, change colour at the end of each row.
Knot together all of your smaller left over yarns to create a continous length. Follow the pattern for the plain scrunchie.
