How to Make an Autumn Macraweave

This is the perfect project for crafting your own unique wall hanging to refresh your autumn décor.

* Knitcraft Ecru Return of the Mac Yarn 200g
* Knitcraft Paprika Hug It Out Yarn 200g
* Hardwood Dowel 1/4 x 36 Inches
* Trimits Natural Wool Roving 10g - Pistachio, Sienna and Lime
* Scissors
* Weaving Needle
How to make
Cut 26 x 3 meters of Return of the Mac Ecru and place them on the wooden dowel with the Lark’s Head Knot.
Cut 1 x 1 meter of Return of the Mac Ecru, use it as a guide and tie all the strings on it using the Double Half Hitch knot to create a line close to the wooden dowel.
Tie a line of Square Knots
Follow with two lines of alternating Square Knots
Use the 10 strings on the left only, tie an alternating line of 4 Square Knots.
Continue tying decreasing alternating lines of Square Knots until you have one Square Knot.
Cut 1 x 1 meter of Return of the Mac Ecru, use it as a guide and tie a diagonal line of Double Half Hitch using 40 strings only.
Cut 1 x 1 meter of Return of the Mac Ecru, use it as a guide and tie a diagonal line of Double Half Hitch using strings 32 to 1.
Cut 1 x 1 meter of Return of the Mac Ecru, use it as a guide and tie a weaving line of Double Half Hitch using strings 17 to 52.
Tie three rows of Square Knots inside the two weaves.
Cut 1 x 1 meter of Return of the Mac Ecru, use it as a guide and tie a weaving line of Double Half Hitch using all the strings.
Cut 1 x 1 meter of Return of the Mac Ecru, use it as a guide and tie a line of Double Half Hitch using all the strings about 15-20 cm below the previews line of Double Half Hitches.
NOTE: the lines of Double Half Hitches can be any shape and length and feel free to add more.
Take some roving and starting from the top weaving it every two strings (Check out our Get Started In Weaving videos here for top tips)
Leave some gaps and weave coloured string or yarn in between.
Weave different coloured strings. Try to use different thickness and type of yarn to create interesting textures.
Add some loops in different lengths.
Add more weaving using different strings, colours and materials.
Add Soumak weaving to create more textures.
Add pop of colours.
Add rows of Square Knots by taking a coloured string, place it behind two Ecru strings and tying Square Knots.
Add more loops, roving and weaving for extra texture.
Once the weaving is finished, turn it and tuck in all the ends and trim excess yarn.
Trim the fringe at the desired length.
