Main Collar

You may need to increase or decrease the inner circumference of the collar, depending on the size of your dog. To do this, add or subtract a multiple of 4 to the original chain:
e.g. 33 + 12 (4 x 3) = a total starting chain of 45 + ch2

Using 'Red' and 4mm hook, ch33.
Row 1: Ch2 (doesn’t count as a tr), 1tr in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across ch2 and turn. (33tr)
(To make the collar thinner, omit Row 2 and skip to Row 3.)
Row 2: Tr in each st across, ch2 and turn. (33tr)
Row 3:  *10tr, 2tr in next* rep across. (36tr)
Fasten off 'Red', weave in any ends.
Re-attach 'Red' to 1st ch on the foundation row.
Row 4: Ch1, working over loose ends, dc into same st, 7dc evenly along the side of the collar (8dc).
Ch1, rotate work 90 degrees, *2dc, 2dc in next* rep across. (48dc across long edge)
Ch 1, rotate work 90 degrees, dc into same st, 7dc evenly along the side of the collar (8dc).
Fasten off 'Red'.
Weave in ends.

Note: If you’ve added or subtracted to the original ch, make sure that the long edge of the collar has a stitch count with a multiple of 4, this is important for the shell st row.

Frill

Attach 'White' to the stitch where you fastened off the 'Red' of the collar.
Ch1 and turn, working over loose ends, dc into same st and in each st across. (8dc).
Ch1, rotate work 90 degrees, slst into same st, *sk 1 st, shell in next st, sk 1 st, slst into next st*, repeat across, ending with a slst in the ch-sp. (12 shells)
Ch1, rotate work 90 degrees, dc into same st and across (8dc).
Fasten off, weave in any ends.

Tie Chain

Using 'Red', ch36.
Slst in 2nd ch from hook, slst across (35slsts)
Attach the chain to the corner st of the foundation row of the collar using a slst. Slst across the inner edge of the collar, ch36, slst in 2nd ch from hook, slst across. Slst into the corner of the foundation row of the collar.
Fasten off, weave in any ends.

Buttons

(make 5)

Using 'Black', make a MC.
Ch1, 6dc into MC, pull ring closed to secure, slst to join.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Weave in the loose ends, leaving the long tails.
Sew the buttons onto the red part of the collar, spacing them evenly around.
Secure the yarn and fasten off. Weave in any ends.
