How to make

Step 1
First make the stable - using a pencil and ruler, draw, measure and cut a front opening in the small cardboard box with 2 diagonal struts on each of the top corners. Fold the front open flat.

Step 3
Cut a square of black paper for the window and draw on some lines in white pen. Add a gold star with glue and stick the window to the inside of the stable.

Step 4
Now make the characters- first measure and cut the craft tubes down in size- 5cm for the sheep and donkey, 8cm for Mary, 9cm for the angel and shepherd, and 10cm for Joseph and the Three Kings. Then paint all the tubes and leave to dry.

Step 7
Make a crook for the shepherd with a beige pipe cleaner and add a brown pipe cleaner ‘beard’ to Joseph. Then make ‘baby Jesus’ with cream felt and pink paper and stick to Mary’s body. Draw some eyes, noses and mouths on each with the black pen.

Step 8
For the Three Kings’ crowns, measure and cut out 2cm wide strips of gold card and draw 1cm wide triangles along one side of each. Cut out the triangles and then wrap the strips around the tops of each tube - trim and then glue in place. Stick pipe cleaner beards to the faces of each, and then draw eyes, noses and mouths with a black pen.

Step 9
For the angel, first stick a piece of cream felt ‘hair’ to her head- cut it shorter at the front and snip along the edge to create a fringe. Then cut a 5cm wide piece of white felt for her wings and cut a scalloped edge on each end. Wrap it around the body and glue in place. Make a silver tinsel pipe cleaner ‘halo’, and glue to the back of her head. Then add eyes, nose and mouth with the black pen.

Step 10
Finally make the sheep and donkey - cut and glue some felt ears to the top of the brown and white tubes. Then add some black pipe cleaner ‘hair’ to the donkey, and white pom pom ‘coat’ to the sheep. As before, draw the eyes, nose and mouth with the black pen.
