BLO – back loop only
tr-Treble Crochet
dc- Double Crochet
ch- Chain
Rep - repeat
Cut dowel to the following lengths:
2 x 20cm
Ch48 using 4mm hook.
Row 1. Dc in 2nd st from the hook and in each st to the end. (47dc)
Row 2. Ch3 (counts as 1tr here and throughout), 6tr, *ch1, miss a st, 7tr; rep from * 4 more times.
Row 3. Ch3, *5tr, ch1, miss a st, 1tr, ch1, miss a st, rep from * 4 more times, 6tr.
Row 4. Ch4 (counts as 1tr and 1ch), miss a st, *3tr, ch1, miss a st, rep from * 10 more times, 1tr.
Row 5. Ch3, 1tr, *ch1, miss a st, 1tr, ch1, miss a st, 5tr, rep from * 4 more times, ch1, miss a st, 1tr, ch1, miss a st, 2tr.
Row 6. Ch3, 2tr, *ch1, miss a st, 7tr, rep from * 4 more times, ch1, miss a st 3tr.
Row 7. As row 5.
Row 8. As row 4.
Row 9. As row 3.
Row 10. As row 2.
Rep rows 2-10 once more, then rep rows 2-6 once.
Row 25. Ch1, 1dc in each st to the end. Fasten off.
Join yarn to the top right of the front of bag panel.
Row 26. Ch3, 9tr. (10tr)
Rows 27-32. Ch3, turn, 1tr in each st to the end (10tr)
Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew into a loop/tunnel for the wooden dowels to sit in.
Miss 27sts on row 25 of bag and join yarn, rep rows 26-32.
Ch6 using 4mm hook.
Row 1. 1dc in 2nd ch from the hook, 1dc in each st to the end. (5dc).
Rows 2-20. Ch3 (counts as 1tr here and throughout), turn, 1tr in each st to the end. (5tr).
Row 21. Ch1, turn, 1dc in each st to the end. (5dc).
Row 22. Ch1, turn, 1dc BLO in each st to the end. (5dc).
Rows 23-71. Ch1, turn, 1dc in each st to the end. (5dc).
Row 72. Ch1, turn, 1dc BLO in each st to the end. (5dc).
Row 73. Ch1, turn, 1dc in each st to the end. (5dc).
Row 74-93. Ch3, turn, 1tr in each st to the end. (5tr).
Row 94. Ch1, turn, 1dc in each st to the end. (5dc).
Fasten off, leaving a long tail to sew to the front & back of the bag together.
Making sure that the dc BLO rows of the side and bottom sections are lined up with the bottom corners of the front and back bag sections, sew the bag together.
Weave in all ends.
Place dowel over top of the tr handle section and sew the handles over the dowel to trap it. Rep for the other end of the dowel, and for the second dowel.
