1: Bubble Blowers

Using a bubble blower slows down your breathing and helps you to focus by setting your mind to the careful blowing of big shiny bubbles.

Visualising blowing away worries can help with talking through and managing emotions.

Small enough to pop into your bag or pocket, these are a great tool for aiding meditation, mindfulness and creating an instant feeling of calm.

2: Worry Dolls

Worry dolls have been used for years to help with anxieties.

According to folk tales, children are given tiny handcrafted dolls to tell their worries to and then are told to place them under their pillows, in the morning the worries have gone and have been replaced with the wisdom and knowledge to eradicate them.

Children can easily make these little dolls, giving them further ownership of them and creating an opportunity when they can discuss their worries while making them too.

3: Gratitude Jar

Practicing gratitude encourages positive emotions, can improve focus, well- being and generally make you feel happier.

Using this gratitude jar is a great activity for the whole family. Each person writes down what they are grateful for on a small piece of paper and then pops it in the jar.

You'll be surprised at how even on the most mundane of days there will always be something to be thankful for! For a simpler version you could use stickers to stick on the letters.

4: Worry Monster

Worry monsters are not-so-scary friends who eat up worries while you sleep. Your child can write down any worries they have on a piece of paper, then feed it to the monster by placing it in the mouth piece, the monster then gobbles it up in the night!

5: Calm Down Jar

Calm down jars can help children to focus, calm their breathing and help to regulate their emotions. This version uses oil, food colouring and biodegradable glitter to form the mesmerising flow which is so relaxing to watch.

How to Make

Step 1: Add some drops of food colouring into the bottom of the jar. Start with a small amount and add more if needed, a little goes a long way!

Step 2: Top with water to reach the halfway mark in the jar.

Step 3: Top up the rest of the jar with oil, and then follow with a good shake of glitter. Screw on the lid to finish.

Top Tip: to prevent leaks, squeeze a line of glue around the edge of the jar lid and screw on to keep it tight.
