Ears, horns and happy kids
Used this to make horns and ears for unicorn cupcakes for my grandson's birthday party. The cakes went down a storm. Weirdly, the kids just ate the ears and horns and not the rest of the cake!!
I used pieces of fondant icing and for the horns, pressed a walnut sized piece into the mould. There are handy pegs to push the upper mould on. I squeezed the two together as hard as I could and removed the flashing - which pulled away easily. With the ear mould, I thinly rolled out the fondant icing and pressed the ear mould down really hard. Sometimes had to remove some of the icing around the edges. The smaller ear shape gets pressed in. I curled the ear shapes round a little. I pushed the ears and horn into the cake icing (also fondant) and painted the 'inner ear' and horn with pink lustre. Looked great!
I used the BBC Good Food recipe for the unicorn cupcakes which worked well.
