How to make
You will need:
Cake Pops
Cake pop mould
Candy Melts in green, pink, yellow, white, dark brown
Lollipop sticks
Scissors
Disposable piping bag
Polystyrene cake dummy or cake pop stand
Large piping nozzle
Make the cake batter of your choice and bake in the cake pop mould according to the instructions. Let the cake balls cool completely before decorating.
Top Tip!…Trim cake balls with clean kitchen scissors to remove any joins and ensure a smoother finished result.
Dip the end of each stick into melted green Candy Melts and insert into cake ball (approximately two centimetres). Stand the cake pops in a polystyrene cake dummy or cake pop stand, and put them in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up.
To make the frog's eyes, take some white Candy Melt buttons and use a large piping nozzle to cut away a third of each Candy Melt to leave a crescent shape – do two for each cake pop.
Remove the cake pops from the fridge and have your bowl of melted green Candy Melts and your white eyes ready to go. Dip each cake ball in the green melts to fully coat, and gently shake off the excess. Add the two eyes before the green Candy Melt has set.
Top Tip!…If you find the Candy Melts a little too thick to coat the cake balls evenly and smoothly then you can add a drizzle of vegetable oil to thin it slightly.
Put each cake pop in the fridge to set as soon as you have added the eyes. When the cake pops have set it's time to add some detail. Use a little melted dark brown Candy Melts for the pupils of the eyes (use a pop stick to dab this on) and an edible black marker pen to draw on the mouth.
Add two dots of pink Candy Melts for the cheeks and you're done!
Coat each cake ball in yellow Candy Melt as per the instructions for the frog. Whilst the cake pops are setting in the fridge, prep the bee's wings.
Use a sharp knife to cut a pink Candy Melt button in half and then into six equal triangles (enough for three piggy pops)
Use some melted pink Candy Melt to fix two ears to the top of each cake ball. Return the cake pops to the fridge to set
Remove the cake pops from the fridge and dip each one in melted pink Candy Melts to completely coat the cake ball and the ears. Return to fridge to set hard.
Use a little melted pink Candy Melt to fix a whole pink Candy Melt button to the pig's face for the snout. Leave to set and then add two dots of white Candy Melt for the eyes.
Melt a little dark brown Candy Melt and add pupils to the eyes and nostrils on the snout to finish.
