How to Crochet a Hydrangea Bloom Sweater
This sweater looks like it's straight out of a floral wonderland. The tiny flowers that make the pompom balls of a hydrangea come in the most beautiful colours and are easy to replicate in crochet to sit perfectly on the shoulders of a knitted jumper. The crochet pattern is simple to do, even for a novice, so get ready to flowerbomb your knitwear and create your own couture masterpiece in the process.

CROCHET TERMINOLOGY
The small and large flower crochet patterns are written using UK crochet terms, which differ slightly from terminology used in the
US, as outlined below:

1. Using a 3mm crochet hook and 4-ply yarn, make a slip knot to create a loop. Start to create a chain by pulling the yarn through the loop with your hook. Chain 6. Join the ends of the chain together using a slip stitch to create a circle.
2. Chain 3.
3. Work a treble crochet through the centre ring of the flower: wrap the yarn around the hook twice, then pass it through the centre of the circle, wrap the yarn over the hook once and pull it through the hole.
4. Pass the yarn over the end of the hook again and pull it through two of the loops.
5. Wrap the yarn around again and pull it through the two loopsโฆ
6. ...to end up with one loop to complete the treble crochet stitch.
7. Repeat steps 3โ6 twice more to make a total of 3 treble crochet stitches. Chain 3.
8. Attach to the circle using a slip stitch.
9. Chain 3 in preparation to make a second petal.
10. Create each petal โ you'll make a total of four in the same way. When you have completed four petals, tie the yarn in a knot and trim the end.

1. Using a 6mm crochet hook and super chunky yarn in a colour of your choosing, make a slip knot.

3. Join the ends of the chain together with a slip stitch through the first chain.

6. Work 4 triple treble crochet stitches through the centre ring.
7. Chain 3.
8. Slip stitch through the centre.
9. Repeat to make a total of 4 petals and tie knot after last petal
10. Trim away loose threads.
Once you have completed sufficient flowers, stitch them onto the jumper to cover the shoulders front and back using a thread to match the yarn. Stitch the pearl beads and gemstones to the centre of the larger flowers to finish; alternatively, use a hot glue gun to fix them in place.

1. Wrap the yarn around the hook (yarn over) three times and insert the hook through centre of circle. Yarn over and pull through the circle (five loops on hook).
