How to Make

Wreath Cover

Wreath Cover
Using ‘Green Aran’ and 4mm hook, ch41.
Row 1: 1dc in second chain from hook and in each ch across, ch1 and turn. (40dc)
Rows 2-205: 1dc in each stitch, ch1 and turn. (40dc)
Fasten off, leaving a leave a long tail.
Wrap your crochet sleeve around the wreath, and sew together using a yarn needle, making sure your rows match up.

Note: You may need to adjust the width and/or length of the sleeve to ensure it fits around the wreath properly. To make it wider, increase the number of chains made at the beginning. To make it longer, simply add more rows.

Further Note: Unfortunately, the polystyrene wreath originally used in this project is no longer available. We suggest using a rattan wreath and either covering it with wadding before wrapping your wreath cover round, or simply omit the wreath cover altogether and glue the other elements directly on to the wreath for a gorgeous rustic look.

Hook
Using 'Green Aran' and 4mm hook, ch75, dc into first chain to make a loop, dc in each around until you get back to first chain.
Finish off and weave in yarn ends.
Fold your loop around the wreath (where you stitched your ends together) pull the back end through the front end to form a loop, which will then be your hook to hang on to the door.

Assembly

Sew the ears on to the top of the head, and embroider a little nose on to the muzzle.

Stitch the head firmly on to the inside of the wreath, this may be a little fiddly (a curved needle may be easier).

Pin both arms in place as close to the head as you can, with the back of each arm lined up with the flat back of the wreath, sew them in place.

Stuff the body and sew the tail on to the back of the body, pin the body in place directly under the head and arms making sure the legs are facing forward. Sew into place.

Pin the flowers, leaves and eggs in place wherever you want them and either sew or glue in place.
