How to Decorate a Journal with POSCA Pens
Make a fresh start with a brand new journal, starting by personalising the cover! With POSCA pens, you can add vivid colour when decorating your journal or scrapbook, adding a design to inspire the many blank pages inside.
With our simple tutorial, enjoy the contrast of a white scrapbook with the vibrant, opaque colour of POSCA. The sea-inspired shapes are influenced by the artist Henri Matisse's cut-outs – a look that's been really popular over a range of art and craft projects of late.

How to make
Use a pencil to draw a faint circle in the middle of your journal cover. Now sketch in your coral shapes around the circle. Do this by making rough hand shapes, but imagine elongated hearts as the 'fingers'.
Still using your pencil, draw basic star shapes of various sizes in between your coral shapes.
Now draw in some folky flower shapes. Do this by drawing two parallel scallop-edge triangles with the tips touching, then draw the other two either side as shown.
Now fill in the whole space with your shapes. You can also add simple motifs such as spirals and apple shapes to fill the area too.
Once you have created your pencil design, you can colour in your shapes with the POSCAs. Remember to keep the design bright, and simply use the fine 1M black POSCA to colour in some small accent shapes to add contrast to the design.
Now write your words in the middle of the design. Hold your 8K POSCA at an angle to create a loopy/ribbon effect in your text.
