How to make

Step-1

Pick up your pom pom maker and open up the arms, making sure that they are in pairs and next to each other.

Step-2

Wrap your yarn around the arms. Once it's thick enough (the yarn needs to reach the bottom of the semi-circle arch), cut the yarn and repeat the process on the other side!

Step-3

Once they are of equal thickness, close the arms and with a small pair of scissors, cut between the arm pairs, using the centre gap as a guide.

Step-4

Now that the yarn is separate, put a length of yarn through the middle of the pom pom maker and tie in a double knot, ensuring that it's tight and in the centre.

Step-5

Open up the arms and pull the maker apart, leaving you with a pom pom!

Step-6

Repeat the above steps with as many different colours as possible – some strong colour combinations would be primary colours or pastel shades! If you have multiple pom pom makers, you could vary the sizes as well if you like.

Step-7

Once you have a suitable number of pom poms, use the glue gun to stick them onto the mache cone. The easiest way to do this is to apply the glue directly onto the cone to avoid burnt and sticky fingers!

Step-8

Build up your pom poms around the tree and make more if required to fill in any gaps.

Step-9

Put a pair of pom poms on the top point of the tree and carefully pop a bit of glue between them to position your star with ease! If you fancy, you could paint your star beforehand or cover it with glitter to give your tree an extra sparkle.

Step-10

Add on gold bells sporadically using the glue gun. Again, be extra careful here not to burn yourself.
