How to Use a Sharpie on a Mug

Take your piece of paper and with your pencil draw the outline of the owl's body. Add the triangle for its forehead, and then add the eyes, beak and wings. Finally, draw in the triangles on its belly.

Now you are ready to paint your owl onto the mug. Start with the gold Sharpie and draw the outline of the owl. As in step two, colour in the forehead, wings and beak with gold. Draw the circles of the eyes in gold. Using the orange Sharpie draw in the triangles on the belly and the eyes. Make sure you hold the mug steady and draw slowly to avoid slipping.

There you have it – your own shimmering gold owl mug!

Practise drawing your monkey onto paper first before drawing onto your mug. Start with a large oval in the centre. Then draw a semi-circle over the top – this will be the top half of his head. Add two ears and some little spikes of hair on the top. Draw his nose and mouth in the large oval. Inside the semi-circle draw a wavy semi-circle and then add his eyes. Lastly draw in the neck.

Using the bronze Sharpie go over the pink ears. This gives a nice metallic shine with the occasional pink shimmer!

Now you have your very own cheeky monkey!

Start by drawing your lion onto your paper to practise getting the shape right. Draw a vertical oval in the centre. Add a small horizontal oval at the bottom – this will be the lion's muzzle. Draw a large teardrop shape around the head to create the mane. There should be a slight point at the bottom where the mane comes together. Draw a long triangle down the centre of the face to form part of the nose. Underneath draw a semi-circle to make the rest of the nose. Draw in his mouth and add some spots where his whiskers will go. Draw in the ears and the eyes. Now you have your basic lion shape add lots of lines into his mane and draw in his body.

Using the variety of blue and green pens colour in sections of the mane. You don't need to colour them all, it is just to get an idea of how he will look. Leave a white gap between each section. Colour the nose in blue and draw the muzzle, eyes and mouth in black.

Using your pencil, faintly draw your lion's head onto your mug. This will be your guide when colouring him in. Start by colouring the nose and ears in your chosen blue/green Sharpies. Using the ultrafine black Sharpie, draw in his eyes, mouth and muzzle.

Now you can start filling in the mane. Hold the mug steady and rotate it when you need to, this will help to avoid any mistakes. Using different colours fill in the sections of the mane until you have gone the whole way round.

Once you have completed the mane, use the black sharpie to draw in the spots and whiskers on his muzzle. Add a thin black line to the outer ears. For a finishing touch go over the blue nose and ears with the silver metallic sharpie and colour his body. This gives a nice metallic shine and you can see a hint of the blue through it.
